Engineering Construction Industry Association

In May 2006 the Engineering Construction Industry Association (ECIA) chose Welplan as the preferred provider to operate the welfare benefits required for employees engaged in the Engineering Construction Industry.

The Industry’s National Agreement (NAECI) schedules the welfare benefits and these may be enhanced and/or extended through Welplan to suit individual employer’s specific requirements.

In June 2008 the ECIA agreed that Welplan should extend the Welfare Benefits Scheme to provide for the provision of Holiday Pay for the Engineering Construction Industry. This element of the scheme commenced on the 6 October 2008. Utilising the scheme will enable member companies to provide holiday pay, without the deduction of either employer or employee National Insurance Contributions, and provide the welfare benefits required under NAECI.

In order to participate in the scheme for Holiday Pay purposes both the Company and the Employees must meet the in scope requirements set by HMRC and summarised in section 74 of the Finance Act 2004 (See Below)
